Project Brief Overview
Deadline for registration is: 11:59pm, Friday, January 30, 2015
Deadline for registered entrants to submit design packages is: 11:59pm, Friday, February 13, 2015.
The objective of the Robson Redux competition is to select a team to design, build and install a temporary public space installation that will transform the iconic 800-block of Robson Street in downtown Vancouver into a pedestrian plaza for the duration of summer 2015.
- The competition is built on the theme of connection: people's connection to one another and to the urban space.
- This is an open competition; anyone may enter. However, the competition criteria and submission requirements lend themselves to expertise in architecture, landscape architecture, urban design, industrial design, contemporary art and other related fields.
- In 2015, we're encouraging teams to include both artists and designers
- This is a single-award competition, with the selected design, to be built and installed in time for the Canada Day (July 1) long weekend in 2015. The jury may also select up to two other designs for honourable mention. In addition, honourable mention will also be given to a People's Choice Award for the most popular design that will be decided through online voting.
- All design submissions will be a part of a 10-day exhibition at the Museum of Vancouver in March 2015
- The winning design team will receive a $5,000 design honourarium and $40,000 to realize the project; this includes all design, construction and installation costs.
